How to use selective service in a sentence?
I have no problem whatsoever with people of either gender serving in combat so long as the minimum requirements necessary to do the job are not compromised, now that that is the case, I do believe Selective Service should be opened up for both men and women.
The decision to enact a draft is not made at or by U.S. Army Recruiting Command, the Selective Service System, a separate agency outside of the Department of Defense, is the organization that manages registration for the Selective Service.
By reforming the Selective Service to be gender-neutral based registration, we draw on the talents of our entire nation in the time of a national emergency, the current male-only registration sends a message to women not only that they are not vital to the defense of the country, but also that they are not expected to participate in defending it.
Young men who don't register for the selective service are still penalized by the U.S. government, we need to get rid of this mean-spirited and outdated system and trust that if the need should arise, Americans -- both male and female -- will answer the call to defend our nation.
Maybe the answer to Selective Service is to start everyone off in the army and draft them for civilian life as needed.
